Focus on Community: Want a Panoramic Camera on your Phone?

For some reason not all companies have gotten on board with the “we like having a panoramic camera” train. HTC in particular didn’t give their phones the option until very recently. What about those of us that still want this option but have an older HTC phone? Evo? Incredible. Well, thanks to xda member jimbo77 you can enjoy Sony’s own Panoramic Camera App, a sweeping panoramic camera.  More info after the break.

The app is still in beta, but it’s pretty darn good if I do say so myself. Rather than taking a bunch of pictures and just stitching them together, Sony allows you to just sweep your camera and bam! You have a Panoramic photo! The app is pretty darn easy to install. There’s even a packaged apk file for those of you that haven’t rooted your phone or just don’t want to flash the files. The following phones are currently supported with more being added:

  • HTC G2
  • NEXUS 1
  • SGS i9000
  • HTC Shift & Nexus S
  • HD2 (just added today!)

For installation instructions you can find the full thread here. Thanks again jimbo77!

Have you created something awesome? Do you know of someone who has something that should be showcased? Let us know in the comments below and we’ll take a look!
