Androideroids – multiplayer Asteroids via Android phones

So we’ve got these high tech phones, running a platform on the cutting edge of technology, capable of doing things that, 30 years ago, would have required a computer the size of a small house to complete. So what are we to do with our Android phones now? Why, make them play awesome 80′s games, of course!

Grant Skinner, Android programmer and obvious video game geek (which is a compliment, believe me!) has developed a multiplayer version of the 80′s hit video game “Asteroids”, which allows up to 8 Android devices to create an ad-hoc based game, utilizing the phones as controllers with a first-person POV, while the whole game itself is viewable on a larger screen:

Although this is just a proof-of-concept / work-in-progress, we would have no qualms whatsoever if this game was put out for general consumption, or even if other games were created based off of this technology. Can you say multiplayer, Android-based Donkey Kong?
