Yes folks, you read correctly. The folks over at StreakSmart, a site dedicated to development for the Dell Streak 7 Tablet have recently discovered something a little interesting. Quite a number of Dell Streak users have exercised their patience to the max while waiting for Android 3.x Honeycomb. However, one of the more interesting tidbits in developing for the device, it was discovered that there is a hidden Gingerbread UI embedded within Honeycomb. Whatchu talkin bout Willis? Yes, that’s right. Check out the video shot below by member graffixnyc as proof for yourself. Turns out that changing the LCD density settings on the device exposes the UI pretty easily. The folks over at StreakSmart explain:
Set it to 170 or higher, reboot, and you’ll see all the graphical elements of Gingerbread (lock screen, dock, app drawer, keyboard, etc.); set it to 160 or lower and the Honeycomb you’re used to will greet you after a reboot.
