Quick Hands-On The LG Optimus 3D

It looks like 3D is here to stay folks.  Gimmick or not, we don’t see any signs of the feature slowing down on mobile devices.  That being said, LG wants to lead the pack with its LG Optimus 3D device debuted back at MWC.  The device is slated for AT&T in the US and is likely to be dubbed the LG Thrill before quarter’s end.

Since we weren’t able to get our hands on the device this round, we’d like to point you to our friends over at the AC who posted an excellent quick look at the device.  The specs are all still there, sporting a 4.3-inch capacitive touch display and Texas Instrument’s OMAP 4 dual-core 1GHz CPU.  According to those who have reviewed the device, it’s clear that it’s pretty snappy, even for a pre-production model.  The gimmick feature setting this device apart from the rest of the smartphone giants are its 3D capabilities.  The device is not quite as stock Android as we’d like, but it’s the next best thing, revealing a lightweight LG UI overlay.  There are dual 5 mp stereoscopic cameras attached to the backside of the device and fully 3D enabled display for playback, no glasses required.  Hit the break to check out the full vid of the device along with some great screenshots from the big Phil Nick himself.  Let us know what you think of the 3D monster in the comments below.  Is it enough to trump over the colossal Samsung Galaxy S II?  You be the judge.
