WiFi-only Samsung Galaxy Tab dropping June 8th

There it is! June 8th we should see the Galaxy Tab 10.1 available. Samsung will be selling this device directly to us as the consumers. This, I’d say is great, being a WiFi device ran on Android 3.0 Honeycomb, and the chance to purchase directly from Samsung, there’s no worries about getting locked into a contract. You buy the tablet for $399 and you’re home free.

An advantage for this tablet to gain ground is the price. At $399 it’s cheaper that the Apple iPad 2 WiFi version. Check out the hands-on Youtube video of this Galaxy Tab 10.1. Packed with the specs below, this is a tablet I’d seriously consider.

  • Android 3.0 Honeycomb
  • Nvidia Tegra 2 Dual-Core 1GHz Processor
  • 10.1 inch display
  • Samsung TouchWiz UX
  • 16GB / 32GB / 64GB internal memory storage
  • 3 megapixel rear-facing camera/LED flash, 2 megapixel front-facing camera

How does this compare against ASUS Transformer?

“You buy the tablet for $399 and your home free.”

My home is free? Really? Surely you meant “you’re home free”.

Wasn’t the 7″ Galaxy Tablet around $399 and isn’t the Xoom around $499 or $599? If it was $399 Samsung could capture a LOT of marketshare, but I have a sinking feeling they’ll want $499+ for it :(
