We have been hearing about the Motorola Droid X2 for sometime now and the official specs has finally leaked:
- 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor
- 4.3-inch qHD capacitive touchscreen (that’s 540×960 pixels)
- EV-DO Rev. A connectivity
- 8-megapixel camera with dual-LED flash
- 802.11 Wi-Fi a/b/g/n
- HDMI out
- Bluetooth 2.1+EDR
- Proximity, ambient light, accelerometer and compass sensors
- 8GB of internal storage
This looks like a really nice phone, but there are a few disappointments like no front-facing camera and Android 2.2. This is a high end phone even though it is not 4G. I see no reason a dual-core phone should be released without a front-facing camera. The fact that it is Android 2.2 and the original X is about to get Gingerbread 2.3.3 is also disappointment. If you own an X now, do you enjoy Gingerbread or upgrade and go back to Froyo?
The Droid X2 has been rumored to be available on Verizon Wireless this Thursday, May 12th. It seems highly unlikely at this point.
