Take Screen Shots With Your T-Mobile G2X Without Rooting Your Phone

Some of you may already know this, especially if you have recently purchased T-Mobile’s G2X and have researched the device beforehand.  However, I figured it can’t hurt to cover the feature again for those who might have missed it.  One of the most sought out and coveted pieces of functionality iPhone users have benefited from for years has now made its way to Android and could possibly be here to stay for future devices.  That’s right, screenshots!  To take a quick screen shot with your T-Mobile G2X all you have to do is simply hold down the power button + home button and wallah!  A full screen shot of your Angry Birds high score has been saved to your photo gallery.  As a blogger and one who performs app reviews, I can’t tell you how convenient this feature will be.  Previously, one had to root their device to obtain the feature and frankly, it just seemed a little redundant for such a small and single feature.  So, there you have it.  It doesn’t get any easier than that.  Let us know what you think of the feature in the comments below.  Do you think it’s a highly coveted function or could you care less?  We want to know.

I agree thats an extremely convenient feature..Awesome you have it! Really would’ve loved that on my Evo. And was always a little envious that the iphone has it. Bothered me why Android devices always overlooked it.

But a side note: If your don’t have a rooted Evo, you can still download ShootMe (although it say rooted only), and you’ll be able to use that app for screenshots on your stock Evo

Thank u sooooo much for covering this. I could not figure out how to take a pic of my screen and its a very very important feature! It is the easist way to put a quick pic in your photo gallary and once u are used to having it on your iPod it just seems natural for this feature to be included. Thanks for the tip!!

ok…this is a great feature, but it is not saving the screenshot to the “Camera” section of Gallery….what’s up?  What do I do after pressing Hm+Power?  Camera screen flashed for a split second, but that’s it.   Can’t find the screenshot!

Open your Gallery App and it is in the CapturedImages Gallery

when i try to take a screenshot while playing DRAW FREE, it will save a blank photo.. is this because the app is not compatible with the phone??

  • Bevz

    DRAW SOMETHING***

  • chris

Works with other apps, (Facebook, browser, weather) but not with Draw Something. Only saves a blank black screen when screenshotting DS with this feature or any screenshot app on my G2X.
    Deliberate on OMGPOP’s side?

  • boo

I’ve paid for Draw Something and it requires installing a separate app from the free version. Still gives me blank screen when I try capturing it.
