Alright folks, it looks like Sony Ericsson has provided a much needed firmware update to address bugs spotted during Xperia Play testing just before its intended release on April 1st for O2′s network. If you were one of those sad customers who’s high hopes were shot down like a duck in Duck Hunt, fret not my friend. O2 has shed some light on the situation and says they’re back on track to receiving the device. No official word yet as to when exactly, but we suspect pretty soon. So, if you’re a hard core gamer and absolutely “need” this device, then just sit tight, it’s coming. Per O2′s blog Stuart Hibberd, head of testing for O2 has stated:
Since then we’ve received new software from Sony Ericsson which we’ve been testing here and, I’m happy to report, it has fixed a lot of the bugs that would have stopped our customers having a great experience when they use the PLAY. This is an important milestone for us and means the PLAY is nearly ready to go on sale.
Want to get an update when the device is ready? Head on over to O2′s “keep me updated” page and sign up. Don’t forget to let us know what you’re thinking in the comments below.
