How HTC continues to outshine the Android competition

Today, we saw the announcement of the HTC Sensation: a new flagship phone with a 1.2GHZ dual-core snapdragon CPU, 4.3″ qHD SLCD screen, 8MP rear camera, 1.2 Front faceing camera, and 4GB of internal memory to boot. Before that? We saw the Thunderbolt, in all its LTE, speed-demon glory. And the Evo line? Forget about it. So the main question is this: how does HTC keep doing it?

The answer is simple, really. They know what the geeks want, and they don’t play gimmicks. Well, sure, the 3D part of the Evo 3D is a little gimmicky, but don’t forget about the specs: Dual-core 1.2GHz CPU, dual 5MP cameras, 1080p video… it’s surely nothing to scoff at.

The big deal in mobile today is dual-core, and HTC knows that. When the next trend among the mobile elite comes to town, this Editor In Chief would bet his money that HTC will be all over whatever train that may be. So, keep it up, HTC. We love your devices, and we can’t wait to see what else is up that sleeve of yours.

    Meh.
Crappy SLCD screens, tiny little batteries..
I gotta say, Samsung with its SGS2 dominates.

    Exynos > snapdragon
    SAMOLED 2 Plus >>>>>>>>> SLCD
Battery will most likely be bigger
Lower screen res means higher performance, less visual glitches in apps that don’t support qHD

Yes, it will be hard to beat samsung’s screen technology but at least they’ve (HTC and Motorola) bumped up to qhd. Eventually samsung will be able to bump up their resolution and we’ll see what everyone else can do to respond.

True HTC Die hard fan but DarkDvr is right. Galaxy S2 will be a beast but samsung always fails in one point or another, mostly built quality. We’ll wait and see.

“The big deal in mobile today is dual-core…” ?

I don’t think so, great hardware does nothing without good software.

I think the actual hardware specs are good enough, just we need great minds making great applications.

Sense is really what sets HTC apart…even Google can’t come up with a UI that matches that…While I challenge you to show me any difference in usability Thanks to the dual core, the new Sense on the Sensation surprised me once again…

Motorola is crushing it lately with their huge batteries… I wish I could upgrade my EVO from 1500mAh to 1930mAh without making it any thicker.

Also, Samsung is not doing Android any favors… you are better off with an iPhone.
