With Froyo only recently released, talk of the next release of Android OS, rummored to be release at the end of 2010 and to be called Ginderbeard, the Android team are alreally looking at improving the User Experience.

The UX over the past few releases hasn’t change a huge amount but there are going to be some tweaks ahead. One of the goals of Gingerbeard is to limit the impact that the manufacturers skins, such as Motoblur and HTC Sense, have on devices. The major problem with these skins, is that it can effect the performance of the device. This will be a tough goal to get the manufacturers to agree to this.

It is also rumored that Gingerbread will contain Google’s new WebM format. Details of this were breifly released on the WebM blog but have since been removed.

the only reason I’m still with my G1 is because all top end android phones have been tampered with by manufactures. If gingerbread stops this it will be the best thing to happen to android.

I still think manufacturers need to quit the custom UI thing and focus on using custom apps (contacts, social hubs, etc.) to differentiate themselves.

Rich Nexus one sim free costs far to much in the UK at the moment. I tend to buy broken phones and fix them. I’m cheap.
