If there is one thing my friends and co-workers continue to ask me regarding the Android platform, it’s “when are we going to get a Netflix app?” Well, it seems as though news of a Netflix app for Android is closer to fruition than we think. The previously announced LG Revolution has recently received a system dump. And for most who enjoy sifting through these dumps may have a little something to get excited about this time. A thorough look into the system dump reveals that a Neflix install file is present and has also been made available in the form of an apk file for you. It looks like Netflix is following through on what the company promised back in November of last year. However, we hate to burst your bubble, but as of now the application doesn’t do much but allow you to log into your account and browse your que. If you attempt to stream a movie the app informs you that it “could not reach the Netflix service”. We’re not sure if the company is on standby ready to flip a switch for the service or if it possibly has anything to do with the whole dependency on the Qualcomm MSM8655 CPU chosen over the Tegra 2 chipset? Only time will tell as usual, but we certainly have high hopes for this one. Head back over to Talk Android folks, because we’ll be all over this tidbit like white on rice until the day it graces our devices. Let us know what you think in the comments below.
