(Updated) Would you smash your phone at Huawei’s ‘Destruction Booth’ in London to get a P20 Pro?

We’ve seen some exciting marketing campaigns over the years; who can forget Samsung’s trolling of Apple fans queuing up for the new iPhone or OnePlus’s ‘Smash the Past‘ contest? Speaking of smashing smartphones, Huawei is running a ‘Break-up Party’ in London tonight (and tomorrow) to help people switch over to the excellent P20 Pro. And yes, it involves smashing up your current handset in a ‘Phone Destruction Booth.’

Huawei’s ‘Phone Destruction Booth’ will open up to the public from 5pm-10pm tonight and tomorrow night (Update: Cancelled) on a first come, first served basis to people wanting to smash their current phone and switch to the Huawei P20 Pro. If chosen to take part, you’ll get dressed in a jumpsuit, goggles, and protective headwear with a choice of hammers, bats, and other implements of destruction to smash your old phone with. Giving the old phone a fatal beating with a bat could be quite rewarding, especially if it’s replaced with a P20 Pro.

There will be experts on hand to help you get your data from your current phone to the gorgeous new P20 Pro using Huawei’s Phone Clone app, although I would recommend you to back up your valuable data before you get in the queue. As you might have guessed, there are a limited number of slots available on each night, so it’s best to get there earlier and not later. It’s worth noting that there is no guarantee that you’ll be able to take part or switch handsets, so don’t pre-smash your phone in the hopes of jumping the queue!

If you want to jump in line for a chance at getting your hands on a Huawei P20 Pro in return for smashing your current handset, you’ll need to head to 19 Greek Street in Soho, London, W1D 4DT. Let us know in the comments if you are successful.

The P20 will probably be my next phone, but would not smash my Windows phone, 950XL, for one.

I would smash my smart phone without getting anything in return.
