Last fall we started to spot signs that HMD Global was already working on an upgraded version of the Nokia 8 smartphone mere weeks after its release. As we get closer to MWC 2018, where HMD Global indicates they will release “surprising” products, the latest rumors suggest one of those items is the Nokia 8 Sirocco. If the use of the name “Sirocco” is any indication, HMD Global plans to take their flagship level Nokia 8 and step it up to an even higher level.
According to sources, one big change over the existing Nokia 8 will be the use of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor over the current model’s Snapdragon 835. Memory should also be getting a bump to 6GB, one of the first signs we saw that HMD Global was working on an upgraded device.
Another nice addition to the Nokia 8 Sirocco will be IP67 certification for water and dust resistance, making the phone a better choice for those who want to get out in the elements with their smartphone. Other hardware details include a 3,250 mAh battery and a 12MP + 13MP Zeiss dual lens rear-facing camera.
