Untappd Adds Ratings in Beer Check-in Web Application

As most people know, it seems like there’s  a social network and club for everything these days, so why not for those who enjoy the occasional brewski as well?  That’s right, a social network for beer drinkers.  I would have loved to have been the fly on the wall when this idea was birthed.  I’m sure it was over a couple of…..beers.  As most of our drinking pals by now know, the popular Untappd web application (now optimized for Android) recently added a new feature to its beer check-in service.  Untappd now allows you to rate your favorite beers on a scale of one to five bottle caps.  Of course, you also have the option to change that rating as you see fit.  Hit the break for more info and pics.

Untappd has also expressed that it has plans to expand on the review system with more functionality and features in time.  In addition to this, the application already supports functionality to post to your Twtitter and Facebook account and even allows for location based services so you can check in to your favorite local pub as before.  You can also earn badges depending on when, where and what beer you’re checking in.  The app even allows you to make a virtual toast to your friends who might be having a beer somewhere else in the world at that time.  It doesn’t get any cooler than that.  If you’re eager to try this service out, just hit the mobile version of the site from your Android browser at http://m.untappd.com, and be sure and let us know what you think in the comments!

Apologies, there was a mis-print in the original article, it has been corrected.

This is not a downloadable app, but rather a web-app that runs thought the native browser and has been recently optimized for Android devices.

    The article has been clarified.

I have been using this on my brand new Android phone (LG Optimus), but just can’t seem to be able to add a location when I check-in. “Enable location” is checked off in my browser settings. I had even cleared location access, cache, history and cookie data and rebooted. It still just keep spinning when I try to add a location.
