bTunes – Good alternative for Android

Since moving to Android from the iPhone, one thing that has lacked at bit (and there haven’t been many of those at all) was the music player on my Motorola Milestone. While it does the job of playing songs, creating playlists and some other functions that I was used to with iTunes were missing.

So imagine my joy to find bTunes. bTunes looks a lot like the iPod app that comes on the iPhone but it has some extra features, such as downloading missing artwork. Also as a reformed iPhone user, it was easy to navigate around and use in general. It also has some pretty cool features, such as when you go to unlock your Android, you get details of the song currently playing and basic song controls (pause, next and back).

bTunes comes with a pretty comprehensive Preferences menu which will let you really customize it. There is also a really cool feature that will search for any new media every time the app launches, there is also a feature that lets you do a manual refresh of your library. Here’s a list of bTunes features:

  • Reads embedded album art
  • Downloads missing artwork when needed or all at once
  • Album art thumbnails
  • Bluetooth controls
  • Voice commands
  • Above lockscreen controls with album art
  • Desktop widget
  • Music library search
  • Familiar and easy to use interface
If you are struggling with your current Music Player then I’d suggest downloading bTunes from the Android Market. It costs $1.99 which is well worth it.
Are you a btunes user? Feel free to leave your comments and opinions here.
