Just because the OnePlus 5T was officially unveiled last week doesn’t mean its predecessors have been kicked to the curb. The upstart handset ran an Open Beta Oreo for the OnePlus 3 and 3T, the latest build of which was made available just last week. In a further step, the official Oreo build (OxygenOS 5.0) is busy rolling out to the two phones in question via OTA.
Here is the changelog for the official Android 8.0 Oreo OTA:
- Update to Android 8.0 Oreo
- Added Parallel Apps
- Added Picture-in-Picture
- Added Auto-fill
- Added Smart text selection
- New Quick Setting design
- Updated security patch to September
- Added notification dots to Launcher
- new app folder design
- Now able to upload photos directly to Shot on OnePlus
As is the case with most brands, the Oreo update is incremental, which means that a small sub-section of users will see the OxygenOS 5.0 OTA appear on their handsets today, with a wider roll-out of the update after it’s clear that there are no show-stopper bugs or glitches in the OTA. As always, OnePlus is asking for feedback on the OTA from its users. It’s probably a good example of what OnePlus 5 and 5T owners can expect to see unveiled for their devices in the coming months. Don’t forget, you can download the official OnePlus 5T wallpapers to spruce up your handset while you wait for the OTA to hit your phone.
