Samsung makes a lot more than just Galaxy phones and 36 of its latest products are CES 2018 award winners. The awards are for outstanding design and engineering, and the program has 28 product categories. Samsung’s awards include two “Best of Innovation” and span categories such as “Virtual and Augmented Reality,” “Wearable Technologies,” “Video Displays,” “Home Appliances” and “Smart Home.” This is also the first year that the company has won in the category of “Fitness, Sports and Biotech” for the Gear Sport, Gear Fit 2 Pro and Gear Icon X (2018).
Commenting on the awards, Tim Baxter, President and CEO of Samsung Electronics North America, said, “Innovation is in our DNA, as is our commitment to delivering transformational products that create meaningful experiences for our consumers. To be recognized by our industry peers, year over year, for our relentless pursuit of innovative design and engineering is truly an honor.”
Product winners outside of sports and fitness include the HMD Odyssey (Windows Mixed Reality headset), Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S8/S8+, 49-inch CHG90 gaming monitor, Connect Home Pro, Samsung Chef Collection (4 awards), 16GB GDDR6 memory, 8TB NGSFF NVMe SSD, Exynos 9 Series 9810 processor (this will likely power the Galaxy S9) and ISOCELL Slim 2X7 (24 megapixel image sensor with 0.9 μm pixels).
Many of these products will be on display at CES 2018 in Las Vegas. The show starts on January 9th and runs through January 12th, and Samsung’s booth (#15006) will be in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
