This isn’t a joke; you can finally walk into a Sprint store and buy an Essential Phone, right now. It missed Andy Rubin’s estimate of “a few weeks” that he claimed back in July, but hey, it’s out just in time to compete with the Galaxy Note 8 and the iPhone 8. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing, but hey, new phones!
What makes this a little more compelling than the other options is that Sprint is offering a steep discount on the device if you use their new Sprint Flex leasing program. You can get the device for $14.58, which comes out to about half off the entire phone. Financing and leasing programs aren’t always great deals, but if you’re planning on riding it out with Sprint for the next couple years, this legitimately seems like a pretty good opportunity.
The Essential Phone sports a powerful Snapdragon 835 paired with 4GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, and a dual camera system. It also offers a true edge-to-edge screen, unlike some of its fruity competitors.
Anybody planning on picking one of these up, or have you jumped ship to another Q4 flagship?
