Your phone from HTC, as long as it’s one of the more recent flagships, will be getting Android 8.0 Oreo by the end of the year or the start of next year.
The promise was made multiple times on Twitter after owners of the company’s devices started asking whether or not the software update would come. All we know for now is that the U11, U Ultra, and 10 are going to be upgraded to Oreo. While not giving a set date for anything, HTC did commit to sharing additional details soon.
It does seem possible, though unlikely, that all three could get Oreo by the end of 2017. But HTC will move in order of importance. That means the U11 will get the software update first followed by the U Ultra and the 10. If the company has already been working with the latest version of Android during its testing phase, maybe HTC is prepared to move quickly.
HTC is among those stepping forward to promise the software update for devices already on the market. Earlier this week Google shared that many of its partners will have Android 8.0 on new or existing hardware this year. Today we just know that HTC’s last three flagships are being upgraded at a later time.
We’re excited to bring Android Oreo to HTC U11, HTC U Ultra, and HTC 10 owners worldwide! Details & additional devices to be announced soon.
