We pretty much already knew LG was planning to unveil the new LG V30 at a press event on August 31st just before IFA 2017 opens based on a previous press event announcement. The timing made sense and the image in that invite had a not so subtle hint that the next V series phone would highlight LG’s announcements. LG is now sending out invites that specifically name the LG V30.
Like the previous general invite, the image for this one suggests LG is once again planning to equip a device with their rounded corner screen, just like the LG G6, as the promo image has rounded corners. For the new invite, it also appears LG plans to focus on the camera capabilities of their new device as the text copy reads “Lights. Camera. Action.” Besides any improvements to photography capabilities, the fact that LG is drawing on movie-making vernacular makes us wonder what kind of video capture capabilities they may include in the new V30.
In addition to potential improvements to the camera, the V30 should be hitting the market with the Snapdragon 835, helping LG pull even with other flagship devices releasing this year. Despite the tweaks to the LG G6 to help with performance, many were disappointed that LG had to stick with last year’s Snapdragon 821 for that device.
LG indicates the press event will stream live on August 31st starting at 9:00 am CET (4:00 am ET).
