Bixby got off to a rough start. When Samsung announced the virtual assistant, it seemed like a pretty intuitive, powerful feature of the Galaxy S8 that could integrate with third-party services better than other AI assistants. Then the phones launched with a half-baked Bixby, and Samsung has been fighting with developers trying to remap the Bixby button.
We’re not too far past the bumpy road, but Samsung is already hard at work adding new features to Bixby. Next on the list is a really nifty collaboration with LinkedIn, which aims to make your Galaxy S8 a productivity powerhouse.
Now users will have direct access to their LinkedIn contacts, calendar, and content right from within Bixby. Simply swipe over to the Bixby screen on your device to see any meetings you have scheduled for the day and people you’ll be meeting at the meeting, plus get notified about everything and have a quick way to connect with those people.
LinkedIn’s trending stories are also making an appearance in Bixby, so you can keep up with what’s going on in your industry without having to leave your home screen.
It feels much like Google Search’s home screen, or even HTC’s attempts at BlinkFeed, but Bixby seems like it’s nailing it just a bit better than everyone else.
