Comcast has released another Android app called Xfinity TV, which has a few advantages over the last offering called Xfinity Mobile such as the ability to remote control your DVR, instead of it just being a scheduler for recordings.

Other notable options are as follows;

  • Browse TV listings customized to your area
  • Browse an On Demand library featuring thousands of titles
  • Search TV listings and On Demand for any show or movie
  • Filter content by genre, network, HD, free and much more
  • Conveniently change channels right from the app
  • Tune directly to On Demand programs to watch on your TV
  • Schedule DVR recordings of your favorite shows, series, and movies

The app has some restrictions/requirements, such as it doesn’t work for Gingerbread builds yet, only Android 2.1 – 2.2. Also, it may not work properly on tablet devices since it hasn’t been tested or optimized for tablet use.

Hit the link below to grab and install it on your Android device.

    It is great that Comcast is catching up, but I mean they still are last. When it comes to apps on Android phones and tablets, nothing comes close to the DISH Remote Access app from DISH Network. I am an employee and have an account with DISH, and I think that it is great that I can watch live TV when and where I want on my Galaxy S. Sure Comcast may be coming out with it later, but why wait when the feature is already out?

    Like Xfinity, in Boca Raton this app is useless.

    Xfinity app is not accessible in other countries to download. SPB TV app is free and can be downloaded from many countries where Xfinity is not available. Hope Xfinity will be available in all countries soon.

    Good on you for creating a post on this subject. There is not a great deal of content written about it (not particularly good anyway). It is refreshing to see it receiving more coverage. Cheers!
