Google IO 2017 Coverage

Those 2 billion Android devices installed 82 billion apps in the last 12 months

Developers are continuing to see growth for their Android apps.

Google, during an I/O 2017 presentation earlier this afternoon, revealed that users on its platform are installing apps at an accelerating pace. Its 2 billion Android devices around the world have come together for an incredible statistic.

What’s the number? 82 billion. That’s how many apps have been installed in the last twelve months. We learned of the accomplishment from Purnima Kochikar, the Global Head of Apps and Games for Google Play. Upon hearing that their apps have been installed so many times since mid-2016, the developers at the Shoreline Ampitheatre cheered with excitement.

The rest of the Google Play-focused presentation highlighted the tools from the Google Play Console that they can use to improve app quality and thus increase installations.
