Android Distribution April 2017: Nougat almost breaks 5%

The latest Android version distribution numbers are in, and Nougat is keeping up its quick climb to more and more devices. Last month, it accounted for less than 3% of devices currently in the wild, but now it’s sitting just a hair below 5%.

The actual number is 4.9%, but we’ll round up. It gained market share pretty evenly from previous Android versions and was the only version to grow and not lose share, although no OS dropped substantially. Lollipop and Marshmallow are still the most popular.

As the G6 and Galaxy S8 start to ship to customers in late April, you can expect Nougat to continue this uptick into the middle of the year.
