iOS vs Android vs webOS

Earlier this week, lifehacker made some claims and comparisons with Android vs. iPhone, and had a chart showing some of the differences and similarities between the two. However, seems they got a well-written, slightly irked response from one reader, who did a complete redo of the article to include WebOS, and made some excellent points in the process:

iPhone-vs-Android-vs-webOS

So, the final, final tally puts it like this:

  • iOS4: 8
  • Android: 10
  • webOS: 13

For the full descriptions of each category was voted as such, head on over to lh & check it out.

What do you think of the new version of the chart? Agree? Disagree? Let us know in the comments.

How the help didn’t Android get a point in Ease of use, Openness, Multitasking or Notification system?

Android has Gaming and multitasking and a music player and tethering and a notification system

How does WebOS get a point for gaming, too (especially w/o many app options)?

Tethering is also pretty easy, whether natively w/ Froyo or using an app pre-Froyo.

I agree with most of this except for Android there should be:
+1 Notifications- simplified to a drop down of the notification shade.
+1 Openness- Custom ROMs and theming; based on Liniux
+1 Multitasking- has real multitasking and handles it pretty well IMHO

Those are mainly what the Android platform is known for.

Also, once Froyo reaches more phones, tethering is great for Android as well.

I stop reading this artical when I noticed Android didn’t get a point for openness…..

I enjoyed your write-up… except I do have one issue to take up. It appears you’re comparing the new iOS 4 without taking into account the added and improved features of Android 2.2. Also… Widgets???

Hey guys, please read the full explanation @ lifehacker’s page. Android should get the points in Ease of use, Openness, Multitasking or Notification system, but WebOS do better. BTW, Android is still the best :)
