Multiple Google-branded devices are getting Android 7.1.2 Nougat today.
These devices are getting the software update and the software versions for each:
- Pixel (N2G47E)
- Pixel XL (N2G47E)
- Pixel C (N2G47D)
- Nexus 6P (N2G47H)
- Nexus 5X (N2G47F)
- Nexus Player (N2G47H)
You’re probably noticing that two devices from 2014 are excluded from this list. Google won’t be putting Android 7.1.2 on the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9. Both of them have reached the end of life in terms of software, so they’ll be staying on Android 7.1.1 for the rest of time. If you own either one, you can probably still find support through custom software.
We recommend just waiting until Google pushes out the software update instead of manually download and installing for yourself. You’re better off letting things happen automatically then trying to get technical, which could result in damaging your device if something goes wrong. Assuming you’re on Android 7.1.1 already, you should get Android 7.1.2 this week.
