Google Maps to let you share your real-time location with friends and family

Google Maps is soon getting a new feature for the app on Android and iOS that will let you temporarily share your real-time location with friends and family.

It’s really easy to share your location or “trip.” All you’ll have to do is press the “More” button at the bottom of the Navigation screen and select “Share trip.” From there, you can choose which friends you want to share your trip or real-time location with. Once you arrive to your destination, sharing automatically stops.

That’s, of course, a lot of steps to share your location. So, you can also just select the blue dot that marks your current locations, which lets you share your location in a couple less steps.

You can also choose for how long you want to share your location. That can be a minimum of 15 minutes, as much as 3 days or until your arrival. It’s worth noting that you can turn off real-time location sharing at any time you want, even when you already set a timer for it to expire.

Google says the feature will be rolling out worldwide soon.
