ZTE has been rumored to be working on an Android Wear 2.0 smartwatch this year, and now it looks like that watch has surfaced in a few really good, detailed pictures. Dubbed the ZTE Quartz, it’s an attractive, slick smartwatch with a few questionable hardware decisions.
It really is a great looking watch that will go toe-to-toe with some of the newer Android Wear 2.0 watches, but there are some key deficiencies here. Despite shipping with Android Wear 2.0, it won’t have a heart rate sensor or NFC, throwing a wet blanket over in-depth fitness tracking and killing the possibility of using Android Pay. It will also forego LTE for a slower 3G radio, which is another strange choice.
There’s a single button on the top right of the housing that will act as a navigation key, but it doesn’t appear to rotate, so expect to do lots of swiping and gesturing to get through the UI.
