It seems that trying to phase out the Motorola name and replacing it with “Moto by Lenovo” hasn’t gone well, as Lenovo is now working to bring back the Motorola name again.
Lenovo last year at CES 2016 started working very hard to phase out the Motorola branding. But, let’s face it, it’s still an extremely confusing mess; however, if a story by CNET is to be believed, Lenovo and Motorola could be bringing back the Motorola branding we’ve all come to know and love.
According to CNET, thanks to a new leadership team, Lenovo and Motorola will no longer shy away from using the Motorola branding.
“In 2016, we just finished transforming ourselves,” Motorola Chairman and President Aymar de Lencquesaing said in an interview with CNET early this week. “We have clarity on how we present ourselves.”
It’s important to note that this will be a gradual shift, just like shifting to the “Moto by Lenovo” brand was very gradual. It’s pedaling backwards, but also the right move. Bringing back the Motorola brand will be up to Jan Huckfeldt, the Chief Marketing Executive at Motorola.
“Give us 12 months, and everyone in the US will know the new Motorola,” Huckfeldt told CNET in an interview early this week.
