Samsung to announce Galaxy S8 launch date at MWC 2017

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is one of the most anticipated smartphones for 2017 with rumors coming out almost daily and a very close watch on what the South Korean company will introduce following a difficult 2016. Many were disappointed to learn that Samsung would break tradition and not reveal the Galaxy S8 at MWC 2017, but a new report is coming out that states Samsung will in fact announce the smartphone’s launch date at that time.

Join us after the break for more.

Samsung is no stranger to throwing in every feature but the kitchen sink into their smartphones each year as well as being among the first to introduce new technologies, such as iris scanners. This year will be no different and is looking likely that Samsung will make even bigger changes to their Galaxy series than before.

While it was sad news to learn that Samsung would not be revealing the Galaxy S8 at this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC), according to this new report from The Korea Economic Daily, Samsung will announce the launch date of the Galaxy S8 on February 27. Previous rumors said that Samsung will announce the Galaxy S8 on March 29 and release it a month later in April. At this point we have to wait and see what officially happens at MWC 2017 to know which dates end up being the right ones.

There have been many leaks coming out about the physical design of the Galaxy S8. The biggest rumor that at this point is all but confirmed, points to a new design that removes the iconic home button in favor of almost nonexistent bezels. Based on blueprint leaks, this could allow the Galaxy S8 to be roughly the same size as the Galaxy S7, but with a much larger display. Samsung has already given users smartphones with large screens and small bezels for a more comfortable grip and better one-handed use, but this is looking to take things to a whole new level.

Another rumor that looks very likely is that Samsung will, as in previous years, release two different sizes for the next Galaxy. We will likely see a 5.7 or 5.8-inch Galaxy S8 model alongside a 6.2-inch Galaxy S8+. A recently leaked logo has basically confirmed the presence of a Galaxy S8+ version, although the screen size is still up for speculation at this point.

We will keep an eye out for any updates regarding this new information. Are you excited for the Galaxy S8?
