The OnePlus 3 and its upgraded sibling, the OnePlus 3T, were two of the highest regarded smartphones of 2016. Packing in mostly top-of-the-line specs, generous battery, a solid camera, and most recently upgrades to Android 7.0 Nougat, the OnePlus 3 and 3T were great choices especially with the price tags of only $349 and $439, respectively. However, high demand and low supply led to a host of shipping delays, pre-orders, and waitlists that continued through the start of 2017. With this comes the New Year’s resolution announcement from OnePlus that commits to the goal of “immediate dispatch” for 2017, starting with the OnePlus 3T Gunmetal 64GB.

It’s not unusual for a highly anticipated phone to start with a pre-order period or even see constrained supply when first available. Google, for example, has been struggling to promptly ship out their orders for their Pixel and Pixel XL phones where the demand was much higher than expected. But when this pre-order or waitlist period never seems to end or improve, it can sway customers in other directions for a different smartphone that may ship immediately. OnePlus knows this and their announcement is the company’s way of telling its customers “we hear you.”
A New Year means a new start. Our goal for this year is to once again deliver the best technology to our community. It’s just as important to do so as fast as possible though, so we’ll be looking to reduce our delivery time. That said, as is the case with all New Year’s resolutions, we can’t expect to get there overnight. That’s why we are going to tackle this goal step by step.
Therefore, as a first step, we’re happy to announce that starting on January 24th our latest batch of OnePlus 3T Gunmetal 64GB will be available for immediate dispatch in EU and North America regions! At this point, we can’t guarantee that this offer will be permanently available, but that is one of our goals.
So if you have been holding out for the 64GB version of the OnePlus 3T Gunmetal, starting today you can buy the phone from OnePlus for immediate shipping within Europe and North America. Of course, this type of statement for any company comes with the disclaimer that while immediate dispatch is available now, OnePlus can’t promise this will always be the case. It’s still very possible that the demand will outweigh the supply so if this is the phone you desire you might want to act quickly!
As of now, that is the only device from OnePlus with the “immediate dispatch” promise, but 2017 is still just getting started and we will keep an eye out for anything else OnePlus may have in store with either their current lineup of smartphones or any new devices that they release this year.
Do you think OnePlus will live up to its promise for immediate (or at least faster) shipping from this point on?
