Looking to pair your brand new Pixel or Pixel XL with the next greatest thing in virtual reality? Google announced yesterday that it’s upcoming Daydream View virtual reality headset will hit stores all over the world on November 10.
Details after the break.
If you haven’t heard of the Daydream View, be sure to check out our overview. In summary, the Daydream View is a powerful virtual reality headset and controller that will function with any Daydream-ready phone. Right now, there’s only one Daydream-ready device, and that’s the Pixel. More phones will be Daydream-ready in the future, but in the meantime, Pixel owners will be the first to experience virtual reality like never before with the Daydream View.
In addition to being available on the Google Store on November 10, you can expect to see the Daydream View available in these countries and stores on the same date:
- United States: Verizon, Best Buy; $79 (USD)
- Canada: Bell, Rogers, Telus, Best Buy; $99 (CAD)
- United Kingdom: EE, Carphone Warehouse; £69 (GBP)
- Germany: Deutsche Telekom; €69 (EUR)
- Australia: Telstra, JB Hi-Fi; $119 (AUD)
In the US, it’s only going to be available at Verizon and Best Buy for $79. We don’t know if other retailers will eventually carry it, such as Newegg or TigerDirect.
Keep in mind that there’s plenty of virtual reality content available for Daydream View owners. You’ll have access to things like Hulu’s array of virtual reality content as well as YouTube’s. Not only that, but you’ll be able to watch thousands of movies and TV shows with Google Play Movies with your Daydream VR, too. There’s plenty of other content already available as well, and even more is coming down the pipeline.
Sit tight, folks! We’re only 8 days away from its official launch.
