Tweet all about it! Media and more now excluded from Twitter’s character limit

Today, Twitter announced it is no longer counting non-text items towards the character limit. Newly-excluded items are photographs, videos, GIFs, polls, and quoted tweets.

Now when you tweet, you’ll notice that only what you type uses up the 140-character limit that has long been a staple of the platform. Everything else is just free to be attached to your tweets.
