New Nexus Launcher gets renamed, will be called Pixel Launcher

By now you’ve probably heard a few rumors and leaks about a revamped launcher on Google’s newest Nexus devices this year. You’ve also probably heard that they won’t be Nexus phones anymore, but will instead adopt the Pixel branding.

So, what does that mean for the Nexus launcher, you might be wondering? It’s getting a name change, too, of course.

The new launcher will be called Pixel Launcher instead of Nexus Launcher, and… that’s pretty much the only change. The launcher is available for download thanks to LlabTooFeR, but it’s extremely clear that Google hasn’t done much to change the app except for updating the name. There’s still time for some new tweaks to make their way into the launcher before the Pixel phones are official, but that’s still a couple months off.

So, if you’ve used the Nexus Launcher before, you know what you’re getting into. If you haven’t and want to give it a spin, now’s as good a time as any. You can find the download link below, but beware that LlabTooFeR’s site is getting hammered with requests right now, so you might need to try a few times or wait a few hours until things settle down.
