Motorola says the Moto 360 (2014) will not be receiving Android Wear 2.0

Everyone is ecstatic for Android Wear 2.0, which was announced at Google I/O 2016 last month. Unfortunately, there are some smartwatches that will seemingly be going without the update. The latest one to jump ship is the Moto 360 (2014), according to a tweet from Motorola Support.

Twitter user timo_capa sent a tweet to Motorola Support, asking when the smartwatch would receive the new Android Wear version. He received a prompt response with unfortunate news, saying that the Moto 360 (2014) will not be updated to Android Wear 2.0.

Motorola Support said they’ll continue to implement important and essential security updates to the device, but that’s all the further support that it’ll be getting.

Android Wear 2.0 comes with a lot of new changes, including some updates to the Material Design framework, a new API for “complications,” more auto activity detection features, and so much more.
