Android N to get new name in a few more weeks

Signifying the collection of possible name has been completed, the Android Twitter account posted today that the new name for Android N is expected to be revealed in “a few weeks.” Although the two do not necessarily have to coincide with each other, this is likely a strong indication that the official release of Android N should also occur within a few weeks as well.

Names for each updated version of Android have always been the subject of much conjecture on the Internet. Unlike some past years, Google did not reveal the new name during Google I/O 2016. Instead, they announced plans to let the public submit names.

Google’s page for collecting those names indicates the company is now “poring over the submissions,” which seems to imply a straight vote or popularity contest will not be used. Depending on how you felt about Boaty McBoatface, that may or may not be a good thing.

What name are you hoping for when it comes to Android N?
