LG files for a trademark on ‘X5,’ cheaper G5 model could be coming

LG has filed for yet another trademark with the Korean intellectual property rights authority. ‘X5’ could be a less expensive G5 variant to be put in place along LG’s already existing X Cam and X Screen models.

The legal status of ‘X5’ is listed as pending. Alongside the filing is a logo appearing very similar to what we’ve seen in the past from the Korean tech manufacturer, LG.

An LG X5 may soon join that of LG’s already existing X-series containing the X Cam and X Screen, which launched earlier this year in the mid-range sector. There’s also the G5 SE, which is a lower-end G5 model being sold in select markets. According to sources, the LG X5 could feature a similar design to the flagship G5 and feature modest specifications. There’s also the chance it could be a G5 model with a more durable and ruggedized exterior. Perhaps it’ll be a competitor here in the states for when Samsung unveils their rumored Galaxy S7 Active. Hopefully we’ll hear more in the weeks ahead to give us a better idea on what the ‘X5’ is all about.
