Full details about the Galaxy S7 Active have leaked prior to official launch

If you were worried that Samsung was going to forget about its hideous Galaxy S Active line, don’t worry. Not only have we seen a ton of leaks over the past few weeks about it, but now the full specs for the device have leaked before AT&T could make it official. For better or worse, there are no surprises here.

The Galaxy S7 Active will sport a 5.1-inch 2560 x 1440 display, the same as what’s in the Galaxy S7. There’s also a 4,000 mAh battery here, which is really impressive, even if the S7 Active has gained a little weight.

Besides that, the Active has nearly identical specs to the Galaxy S7. The microSD card slot is back, there’s a Snapdragon 820 CPU with 4 GB of RAM powering everything, and it uses the same 12-megapixel camera that the Galaxy S7 has. You’ll also get 32 GB of internal storage and Android 6.0 out of the box.

The Active line always boasts rugged durability, and while this year’s Galaxy S7 is waterproof again, it doesn’t have much going for it in the “hard-to-break” category. The S7 Active, on the other hand, is waterproof, but also dustproof and has a chassis that’s clearly resistant to drops and spills. That’s not to say you can’t break it, but with a thick bumper like that it’d be much harder to crack this thing as opposed to the fragile glass on the Galaxy S7.

We’re expecting the S7 to launch on June 10th, exclusive to AT&T.

Is the reinforced frame enough to convince you to buy the Active over the normal Galaxy S7?
