Moto India starts Twitter campaign for new phone release

Lenovo’s marketing arm in India has launched a new Twitter campaign via the Moto India account that is teasing a new smartphone coming to the market. The Moto India team does not help too much with clues to which device this might be. However, some recent leaks show the new Moto G and being a budget phone that would fit right in to the Indian market, odds seem to favor that device.

The tweets being sent out are setup as “reports” of individuals who have gone missing due to problems with their devices. For instance, one of the tweets suggests users could use a better camera with a more advanced autofocus function so as to not miss important pics.

Another one suggests the coming device will not be prone to crashes as the missing person in the tweet apparently had happen while playing a game.

Other tweets hint at a device with a better battery that won’t run out of a charge in the middle of an important conversation and another one suggests better security on the device to prevent prying eyes from looking through sensitive information.

Lenovo has an event scheduled for June 9th when the company was expected to announce this year’s version of the Moto G, potentially changing names to the Moto G4 along with a second device called the Moto G4 Plus, and possibly some other devices. That will be a bit early compared to previous launches, but does seem to be consistent with many manufacturers who have accelerated their launch schedules during 2016 thus far. Since scheduling that initial event, Lenovo added another event for India to be held on May 17th. That would be a little more in line with a Twitter campaign launching that targets that market, although it is a bit odd to not have any more information that has leaked out than what we have seen thus far.
