Eldar Murtazin, Editor-in-Chief of Russian mobile news outlet Mobile-Review, revealed that both the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge have broken record pre-orders, with the S7 Edge being the most popular of the two.
Murtazin wasn’t able to offer specifics as far as numbers go, but did mention Samsung will need to manufacturer a whole lot more S7 Edge units than its Galaxy S7 counterpart. He said that for every 100 Galaxy S7 pre-orders, 64 of that is for the Galaxy S7 Edge and the remaining 36 is of the Galaxy S7. Murtazin says that Samsung will need to increase those numbers on the Galaxy S7 Edge side because it’s, so far, a roaring success.
Murtazin says that the Black Onyx option is the most popular color, which is no surprise considering Samsung hasn’t offered a black model of a flagship for some time now.
Either way, the Galaxy S7 Edge is much more popular than originally expected, and will have to ramp up production shortly, despite its plan to manufacture over 17 million Galaxy S7 devices by the end of April.
The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge are both available to pre-order at all major carriers, and will officially launch on March 11.
