As smartphones get bigger and bigger, the smaller 7 and 8-inch tablets don’t cut it anymore. Instead, users want something bigger. At least, that’s what Huawei and Xiaomi believe.
The spring may seem like a long time away, but not for tech manufacturers like Huawei and Xiaomi. Xiaomi already has big plans to announce its Mi 5 flagship smartphone in the months ahead, and Huawei is beginning to feel the need for some new hardware as well.
According to DigiTimes, a new Xiaomi 2-in-1 laptop is in its early stages of development. Xiaomi plans to make it extremely portable yet apply to the audience wanting a more productive device with a larger screen. The laptop is said to be around 12 or 13-inches in display size and will include a dual-boot system, meaning it will have two softwares installed. Based on the report, the mysterious Xiamoi 2-in-1 laptop will have both Windows 10 and Android-based MIUI pre-loaded. Companies have tried doing similar dual-OS products in the past, but later found out that they had failed. However, Xiaomi wants to be among first to make it work.
Huawei has similar ideas up its sleeve and is planning to release a similar device around the same time called the Huawei MateBook. The MateBook is expected to sport a 12.9-inch display. The company is describing it as the ‘Surface Pro 4 killer!’ This is quite similar to how OnePlus marketed its OnePlus 2 smartphone this past year.
