Podcast Addict pulled from the Play Store, then reinstated hours later

If you’re a big fan of podcasts, you might have heard of Podcast Addict. It’s a fantastic app that offered one of the best ways to listen to and find different podcasts… and it got yanked from the Play Store just a few hours ago. Whoops.

Google apparently pulled the application because it violated the Play Store’s policies on sexually explicit material. Long story short, Podcast Addict doesn’t actually create any content, but because a podcast was trending that featured a sexually explicit image, the entire app was taken down from Google’s app store.

That was a pretty unfortunate event for an app that was otherwise one of the best things available on the Play Store, but after a few hours of being absent, the situation was resolved from Google. The app was reinstated once it was clear that Podcast Addict wasn’t intentionally serving up any sexually explicit material to users and a change was made to better control which podcasts ended up on the trending screen portion of the app.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen an app conspicuously removed from Google’s playground, but at least it had a happy ending.
