According to the good people at AndroidOS.in, HTC has apparently filed for a trademark with the Trade Marks and Design Registration Office of the European Union for a new interface called “HTC Sensation”.
According to the filing description, this covers the following:
Mobile phones, smartphones, wireless phones, wireless devices, portable computers and personal digital assistants, computer hardware and software for mobile, portable and wireless devices; user interface software; computer hardware and software for user interfacing, telecommunications and telecommunications services; computer hardware and software for transmitting and receiving voice, image, data, audio, video and multimedia content; wireless modems; headsets, headsets with wireless transmission function, connection cables, cradles, mounts, face plates, batteries, power adaptors, chargers, cases, in-vehicle chargers, in-vehicle holders, remote controls, keyboards, microphones, loudspeakers, leather pouches for mobile phones.
Now the folks at AndroidOS.in seem to think that Sensation will be HTC’s UI for their Android-based tablet computers. However, as you can see from the filing, the description is so broad that it seems like it could cover almost anything, so I’m not sure if this is just for tablets or not. I’ve read it over four times and can’t find anything that specifically narrows it down to tablets at this point.
Whether the Sensation is just for tablets or for phones as well remains to be seen. “Sensation” really does sound like a natural progression to “Sense”, so we’ll just have to wait and see where this new UI lands once all the chips fall.
