Sling Player Coming To Android?

Sling Media are currently preparing to port their TV streaming software to the Android platform.

In a recent interview Stuart Collingwood, Sling Media’s vice president for Europe wouldn't confirm the rumor but did add that “We’re looking at it closely, and we’ll develop in time for anything we can”.

Although Collingwood wouldn't confirm a possible collaboration he did point out that Google’s Californian headquarters is just down the road from Sling. How convenient.

  1. Not going to happen – You’ll chew through your T-Mo imposed cap in less than a day!

  2. wait and see within 6 months of launch we’ll have more mobile applications than what we have today

  3. Todd, I guess you haven’t heard. T-mo dropped the cap!

  4. T-Mo has removed the 1GB monthly cap, but they maintain that they will remove ‘top abusers’… there is concern that a Sling Player would push you to the top of the list. But I’m guessing that the cap has something to do with the newness of T-Mo’s 3G network, and T-Mo will need to be careful about enforcing caps, as they’re in a competition game with the iPhone. We’ll see, and I’d be surprised to see a G1 Sling Player before Christmas 2009.

I am super excited that the new microSD 16gb storage will work in the G1.

All I need now is for Android to support Blackberry Connect, so I can ditch my Blackberry phone for a virtual Blackberry on my G1. Come on Blackberry.

  5. It’s true that it may push you to the ranks of “obnoxious bandwidth abuser” however the beauty is that the data plan includes T-Mobile hotspot so you can always use that in conjunction with your 3G. Come on people…if these days WiFi routers can prioritize traffic – we can do the same and use it wisely. Remember..it’s just like at home – when you share your WiFi with roomies – you want everyone to be fair and not be a bandwidth hog – same rule applies outside of our houses. If you’re close to WiFi – use WiFi instead of 3.5G

  6. at any rate… im loving my g1 more than anything. i paid 900 dollars to get one on release day and it is worth every penny of it.

Wow! Thank you! I always wanted to write in my site something like that

  9. Hello, guys.. i have got something small to add. I think you guys allready know social bookmarking on sites like folkd and mixx can help in recieving more backlinks, PR, and traffic. Well.. a few days ago i was invited in beta-testing a fresh piece of software that can automatically submit links to the top25 social bookmarking sites. I have to say this sofware is VERY NICE and saved me alot of time allready. It even breaks captcha’s! The creator just launched the coming-soon website@ (bookmarkwiz . com) or you can just search on google for “bookmarkwiz” to get some more info. In IM and SEO the key is to stay in front of your competition.. and with automation software like bookmarkWiz I will dominate other marketers every day! What do you guys think?

  10. Would like to know whether there is any messenger through which we can connect with blackberry messenger

Is there any android handset which is bb compatible or in near future there is going to be one

  11. SELL YOUR SLINGBOXES cause they’re NOT going to support ANDROID !!!!!! Here’s the message I got from SlingMedia Support when I asked the question….How sad !!!

Thank you for contacting Sling Media Technical Support.

As we understand, you want to know if the Slingbox will support the Android Mobile devices any time soon. We will be more than willing to assist you.

Android is a software platform and operating system for mobile devices, based on the Linux operating system, developed by Google and later the Open Handset Alliance. It allows developers to write managed code in a Java-like language that utilizes Google-developed Java libraries, but does not support programs developed in native code.

Most of the supported cell phones run on Windows OS. Since Android runs on Linux OS, it is not compatible with the SlingPlayer. Therefore, Slingbox will not support it and we do not know if it will be supported any time soon.

If you require further assistance, feel free to visit Sling Media Support – Support or contact us at 1-877-GO-SLING (877-467-5464) Monday through Sunday 7am-7pm Pacific Time.

If you need to grow the traffic to your business then a effective way to do this is by utilizing a good social bookmarking software to automate the process. Having a automated bookmarking tool is a must, because this way you can save an average of 3-4 hours a day, or an average of $200/month in bookmarking expenses while you bring in the greatest results in terms of traffic and Page Rank increase.
