Sony Ericsson has announced their numbers for Q4 of 2010, and it looks like they did really well, considering they actually sold less phones than in 2009. 43.1 million Ericsson handsets were sold in 2010, which is less than the 57.1 million sold in 2009. I know, you’re thinking what we’re thinking, how is that better?
Sony made more money even though they sold less phones in 2010. The reason is larger profit margins on the handsets up from 15% to 29%, as well as operating income in the positive. It’s very likely that this will be even larger in 2011, especially with all the hype over the new Xperia line, including the Xperia Play.
