T-Mobile has announced via Twitter that they are offering the G2 for free between now and January 20th if you sign up for a new 2-year contract and if you order online. The G2 may not be as coveted as the MyTouch 4G for example, but it is still a powerful device with a processor that, although it is only 800MHz, can out benchmark a Nexus One.

If you want to take advantage of this offer, hit up the source link below before the 20th.

No More Contracts! We all need to lobby Congress to to apply the same logic that forced Ma Bell to allow 3rd party phone equipment on their network and use existing RICO statutes to break the stranglehold carriers have on the cell phone market! With the advent of LTE, the time has come to once and for all decouple cell phone equipment from network services! Let a decade of true innovation and communication progress begin now!

oh boy, that is one ugly mobile phone.

This is a great t-mobile phone. Just don’t know why they stopped adding the numbers row in phones.

Hold one, this phone is not ugly by any means. I can also say with certainty that the G2 is much nicer than the MT4G… The version of Sense TMO puts on their newer MyTouches is gross to say the least. The G2 is rocking good old vanilla Android (the best version).

Apparently THROUGH Jan 20th means ending midnight Jan 19th since they shut down the deal last night. I called and complained through 3 levels of customer support to honor their deal. They made no effort to honor their word, blaming “3rd party” management of their official Tweet at http://twitter.com/TMobile/status/27177466049073153#. What a joke! A telecommunications company not knowing the legitimacy of their own social network promotion? Oh, and their solution? “Write to our PO Box.” Like that’s not a dead-end for complaints! If you don’t honor your press release T-mobile, don’t expect good customer service reviews in the future…or customers for that matter.

I too experienced this when I attempted to get this upgrade. I was finally able to get this “free” upgrade only after saying “contract” upon the voice prompt. The people at this end seem to have the authority to do what is right.
