Logitech has posted an update for the Revue and Google TV which contains Security Updates, rather than the user demanded feature updates for things like Harmony remote model updates, real bookmarks, pdf viewer, etc. This update isn’t going to really bring any real visible changes at all, it’s mainly in the background.

The update is OTA, and many should have seen this update available already, however Logitech states that it will be released in waves and may take several days before all Revue’s are updated, but they promise that all boxes will have received the update by the end of today, Jan 14th 2011.

To see if your Revue has already received the update, follow these instructions;

  1. From the Google TV home screen, go to Applications > Settings > About.
  2. Scroll down to Build Number. If your Logitech Revue has received the update, the number will end in “b42732.”

A small word of caution. According to the Logitech Revue forums, at least one user so far has stated that a USB storage device with his media (music, movies, etc) was formatted during the installation of this update. If you don’t want to suffer the same fate, disconnect your external storage from the Revue and run the update. If you’ve already ran the update (or it updated itself) and you notice your files are gone, report this here to the Logitech Forum.

Happy Security Updating!

    Hey this is Nate with DISH. I just got the Revue in December after I had the chance to play around with is for my work and instantly wanted it. This allows me to watch TV and surf the web at the same time is makes in easy for me when I looking up some information with my project that I’m almost done with and still allow me to watch my favorite programs. This was easy to set up and took me about 20 minutes to set up. Thank you Google TV and DISH!
