YouTube Mobile recently received an update that allows users to easily discover new music. Official music videos recognized by YouTube are now indicated by a music note badge. Also, a new tab shows the user related artists and more music by the artist that the user is currently listening to. Outlets such as VEVO – who released their own Android app yesterday – also have a banner displayed beneath their videos, as shown above.
To use this new version of YouTube, you’ll need Android 2.2 or higher. Gingerbread users, you should already have this version of YouTube on your device. While the advertisements on some of the videos can be frustrating, it’s even more frustrating when videos aren’t available for mobile viewing. With that being said, the increased ads also mean increased content. Plus, the whole music discovery is pretty nifty.
