We’ve got two men en route to CES, but Engadget has been on the scene all morning, and they’re reporting some promo shots around the convention of the Xperia Arc, which is believed to be the phone that has been known to date as the Anzu. First they saw it on a Sony Ericsson poster outside the convention, but since then it’s been popping up on banners all over the place. While this is the first time the name “Xperia Arc” has popped up, the pictures showing up sure seem in line with the pictures we saw of the Anzu early on. Reported specs are a 1GHz processor, 4.2-inch display supporting a resolution of 854×480, 8 megapixel back-illuminated sensor with HD video capture, and Gingerbread OS. At its thinnest point, the devices is believed to measure just 8.7mm, which makes it nearly as thin as the LG Optimus Black that was just premiered early today.
Sony’s press conference is on schedule for later this afternoon, so this will likely be confirmed or refuted within the next few hours, but it looks like sleep device based on the shots we’ve seen so far, although I’m a little nervous about the thinnest point being in the center. Here’s hoping it’s sturdy.
