Samsung Galaxy S owners in the US are still waiting for their promised upgrade to Froyo regardless of what carrier they are with. Samsung however, states they are still testing out a quick upgrade for all Galaxy S owners, due to the complexity of Android 2.2 versus Android 2.1, this has taken some time and patience.

After the upgrade was released in Canada, then pulled back due to bad complaints from users, Samsung wants to ensure things go better in the US. Thanks Canada for being the live testing ground. Bad Samsung.

Patience is one thing but after all the talk of the update coming in November and now its January…I, along with other Galaxy S-series users are about out of patience. It seems like Samsung release something that wasn’t ready for primetime and we have to pay for their screwup.

Might as well start testing ginger bread so we can get it by jan 2012

To bad the leaked roms do not have JIT compiler. That is the main issue at this point. The JIT compiler and the Hummingbird processor are not playing nice.

I wish Samsung would just come out and say that, I bet a lot of guys will jump on it and try to work it out. I have the leaked JL5 froyo running, no tweaks and the only the is the GPS again. My wife’s GPS works ok. May just go back to JI6 until they figure it out.

I finally got sick of waiting and rooted the phone and installed the lag fix, what a performance difference. Now I’m just going to do my due diligence and read, read, read while I scope out a ROM that looks good.
Even if they come out with the update, given Samsung’s track record, I’d wait a month before installing it anyway.

i.e. they are struggling to update their crapware. I wonder how many people are really using the software that is preventing Samsung customers from getting the latest Android. I bet a lot of it could be distributed as apps in the market instead of tied into the os updates. Basically, they have decided that you shouldn’t have Android without their crapware. They know what is good for you. Just relax and let Daddy Samsung give you what you need :)
